The ‘Complete’ History of Aston Rag
In late 2007, we realised there was bugger all information about the history of Aston Rag anywhere! The only knowledge people seemed to have of what had happened in the past was what they could be told by any ex-committee members they knew; there didn’t seem to be any documentation anywhere, at least not in the Rag Office anyway (although it could have been hidden in there somewhere under a pile of stolen road signs and trophies). In 2005 the Rag Office underwent a bit of a refurbishment and the walls were painted over. Some people may remember that each Aston Rag committee would sign the walls of the office every year to mark their time in charge. All this information was sadly lost in the refurb.
Someone once said “how can you know where you’re going when you don’t know where you’ve been?” Rather than losing a year of history with every generation that graduates from Aston University, we have decided to create this page on the website, with the intention that it is updated every year with committee members, profile photos, totals raised and any other information deemed worth remembering!
If you used to be a part of Aston Rag – or even if you didn’t – and you have any information which could help fill in some of the gaps on this page, the current committee would love to hear from you! Please email the Webmaster.
Raggy love,
Chris ‘Chops’ Andrews
